Mercedes F1 W03 - passive 'double DRS' system 04 November 2012
Whilst Lotus have concentrated on updates to their 'Coanda' exhausts, Mercedes have continued to evaluate their 'double DRS' system in Abu Dhabi. The solution the team use at the front of the car - and the system on the Red Bull, which stalls the rear beam wing - will be outlawed next season as they are actively integrated with the DRS itself. But Mercedes' solution at the rear will be allowed, as it is totally passive and relies on F-Duct-style air pressure switches. Even so, team principal Ross Brawn has suggested it is unlikely we will see this system on the 2013 Mercedes.
