Exclusive - Sato and Davidson on 2007 07 Nov 2007
The 2007 Formula One season was an eventful one for Super Aguri. They made it into the final qualifying shoot-out for the first time, scored a maiden world championship point - before clinching a few more - and challenged their engine supplier, Honda, right up to the season finale.
For the Japanese teams drivers, Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson, the year has been equally exciting. Here the duo reflect on their successful 2007 campaign, rage against those pesky Montreal groundhogs and look ahead to 2008
Takuma Sato, Super Aguri
Championship position: 17th (4 points)
Best race result: 6th (x1), Best qualifying: 10th (x1)
It has been a simply fantastic year for all of us at Super Aguri. The last two years have been a challenging adventure and especially this season where we have also achieved all of the targets we initially set for ourselves. We had great momentum at the beginning of the year and during the second half of the season we have struggled a bit as the bigger teams were able to develop.
But I think that we have done well and I am very proud of everyone in the team. Looking at Formula One as a whole, it has been an exciting year and I have enjoyed every single race.
Anthony Davidson, Super Aguri
Championship position: 23rd (0 points)
Best race result: 11th (x3), Best qualifying: 11th (x1)
It has been a fantastic opportunity - to be racing again this year in Formula One with Super Aguri. Now we have completed a whole season I can look back and feel proud about what I have achieved. It is a shame not to have scored points, but I blame the groundhog in Canada for that completely! I am now looking forward to a strong career in Formula One.
