The usual nine cars have been out in private testing this morning, on a dry track. Fernando Alonso and Jarno Trulli have led the way for Renault, with times of 1m 21.547s and 1m 21.721s respectively, the Italian spinning without damage at Turn 14.

Mark Webber was right up there for Jaguar, the cars running special Terminator 3 livery this weekend ahead of Hollywood star Arnie Schwarzenegger's arrival on Sunday. The Australian lapped in 1m 22.060s and pronounced himself satisfied with his two hours' work. Team mate Antonio Pizzonia was separated from Jaguar's team leader by Allan McNish's Renault, which the Scot lapped in 1m 22.141s. He too had a spin, at Turn 15, again without damage. Pizzonia managed a 1m 22.834s.

The Jordans are racing at their home track - the factory is literally right across the road from Silverstone's main entry. Giancarlo Fisichella led Ralph Firman round, the Italian recording 1m 22.864s, the Briton 1m 24.066s before stopping at Turn 10 with a mechanical problem.

At Minardi, Justin Wilson initially headed Jos Verstappen with a lap of 1m 24.605s, until the Dutchman slipped in a 1m 24.013s right at the end.
