Minardi's new race driver Nicolas Kiesa will get his first taste of Formula One power on Friday when he performs a shakedown test of the team's PS03 car at Fiorano in Italy.

Kiesa, who lies fifth in this year's FIA F3000 series, was announced on Monday as the replacement for Jaguar-bound Justin Wilson and will make his Formula One race debut at next weekend's German Grand Prix.

Although the summer testing ban is now in place, teams are allowed a pre-race shakedown of their cars of up to 50 kilometres and Kiesa's Fiorano run will provide an invaluable opportunity for the 25-year-old Dane to familiarise himself with the PS03 and its systems.

His next track outing will then be at Hockenheim on the opening morning of the German Grand Prix, when Minardi, along with Jaguar, Jordan and Renault, take part in the two-hour private test session, ahead of Friday practice and qualifying.
