(L to R): Marc Gene (ESP) Williams and Luca Badoer (ITA) Ferrari Test Driver.
Formula One World Championship, Rd4, San Marino Grand Prix, Imola, Italy, 19 April 2003

Test driver Marc Gene will join Juan Pablo Montoya at Williams for the remainder of this week's Monza session, following Ralf Schumacher's heavy accident on Tuesday afternoon.

Schumacher spent the night under observation in a Milan hospital after going off the circuit at speed in one of the Lesmo curves. He is believed to have suffered nothing worse than concussion and will now fly home to Austria to rest ahead of the forthcoming Italian Grand Prix.

He will be replaced by Spaniard Gene in order to allow Williams to complete their scheduled programme of testing work. The team, current leaders of the constructors' championship, are still investigating the cause of the accident.

Schumacher lies fourth in the drivers' standings on 58 points, 14 behind leader and older brother Michael.
