FIA confirm revised qualifying schedule 24 Mar 2004
The FIA has announced that a minor revision to the schedule for Grand Prix qualifying has been approved, following Wednesdays meeting of the World Motorsport Council.
From next weekends Bahrain race onwards the first part of qualifying will commence an hour earlier at 1300 local time, as per the proposal published by the FIA on March 17.
The start time for the second part will then be fixed at 1400 local time, rather than it starting two minutes after the end of the first part as it did in Australia and Malaysia. This will allow for more accurate television scheduling and, at most venues should give the teams a longer turnaround period between sessions.
In all other respects the qualifying format remains unchanged. In line with the schedule change, Saturday mornings two practice sessions will also both start an hour earlier.
