Well over 100,000 race fans attended the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona on Sunday, emphasising the ever-increasing popularity of Formula One racing in the country.

And it was a record weekend all round, with a total of 277,300 people attending over the four days. On Thursday, 20,000 passed through the gates, many of them taking advantage of the pit lane walkabout, with another 53,000 following on Friday.

A crowd of 96,000 was on hand to see local hero Fernando Alonso qualify a disappointing eighth on the grid on Saturday, but just over 108,000 flocked to the Circuit de Catalunya on Sunday to see the Renault star fight his way through the pack to finish fourth.
