Chinese fans to get early taste of Formula One power
An exhibition of Ferrari Formula One cars will feature in the official inauguration ceremony of the new Shanghai International Circuit in June, it has been revealed.
Shanghai, which will host the first ever Grand Prix of China on September 26, had its official opening on Tuesday and the venues first race meeting, a round of the China Circuit Championship, will take place on the weekend of June 4-6.
Ferrari will be lending its support to the event, which coincides with the grand opening of the sportcar manufacturers Shanghai showroom, with a number of initiatives. As well as the display of Formula One cars, driven by Ferrari drivers, local Ferrari owners will also get the chance to sample the new circuit.
As part of Tuesdays opening ceremony, a personal message from Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo was beamed direct to the Vice Director General of the Shanghai International Circuit, Yu Zhifei. In it, Montezemolo bid a warm welcome to what he described as a new and extraordinary circuit.
