Cosworth power boost for Minardi 21 Apr 2005
Minardi will have the benefit of Cosworths latest engine, as used by Red Bull, when they debut their all-new PS05 car at this weekends San Marino Grand Prix.
The TJ2005 series 10 unit boasts a 60BHP increase on the V10 used so far this year by Minardi, with peak engine speed up by 500RPM and centre of gravity lowered by over 50mm.
Unlike recent Minardis, the PS05 has been designed around this engine from the outset, so should provide a far more integrated package. It underwent a successful track test at Mugello last week and should give the team a significant performance boost at Imola.
Cosworth are working on a further upgrade to the engine with an additional 30BHP. This, however, will be exclusive to Red Bull and should debut at either the US or Canadian races, depending on the teams engine change schedule.
