Ferrari bring Bahrain marathon to a close 22 Feb 2006
Ferrari concluded work at the Sakhir circuit on Tuesday, completing a testing session that originally began back on February 13. Once again Michael Schumacher and Felipe Massa were on track, with a new 248 F1 and an older F2004 at their disposal.
Schumacher made use of both cars on the final day, the German completing 55 laps in the morning with the 2006 machine, in which he clocked a best time of 1m 30.723s. In the afternoon he switched to the F2004, powered by a restricted V10, adding 47 laps to his total, with a best of 1m 30.375s.
Both Schumacher and Massa concentrated on Bridgestone tyre development ahead of the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix on March 12. Massa ran in the morning only, completing 36 laps in the F2004, with a best time of 1m 29.958s.
Ferraris preparations for the 2006 FIA Formula One World Championship will resume on February 27 at the teams Mugello Circuit in Italy.
