Midland kick off Silverstone test
|
Christijan Albers was at the wheel for Midland on Wednesday as the Russian-registered team began testing at Silverstone.
In overcast but dry conditions, Albers completed 124 laps of the British Grand Prix venues South Circuit layout, clocking a best time of 50.67 seconds in the teams Toyota-powered M16 machine.
"We ran an updated aero package for the M16 today in preparation for Imola, explained Dominic Harlow, Midlands chief race and test engineer. The data collected correlates well with our predictions for the modifications.
Christijan also carried out a tyre test programme for the forthcoming events and we feel we have a good handle on some of the latest developments from Bridgestone that we tried for the first time. We also performed some background work involving brake system modifications and control systems tests.
Test driver Giorgio Mondini will take over the car from Albers when Midland continue their session on Thursday.
