Prodrive have appointed Tony Schulp as group commercial director as they continue preparations to join Formula One racing in 2008. Schulp, currently chief executive with Haymarket Worldwide, will head up the business side of Prodrive’s Formula One programme.

"I have known Tony for many years and have always admired his energy and enthusiasm,” said Prodrive chairman and CEO, David Richards. “I believe he is just what Prodrive needs at this important stage in our development, when we are about to embark on perhaps our greatest venture yet, Formula One.”

Schulp, who has been with his current employers since 1978, will commence his new Prodrive role at the end of March and will report directly to Richards.

"It had to be a very special job to tempt me to leave Haymarket after all this time,” said Schulp. “This is a great opportunity to work in the motorsport world at the highest level with a company that I have known and respected for many years."

Prodrive’s Formula One team will be the 12th on the grid when they make their race debut in the opening Grand Prix of 2008.
