Van der Garde debuts for Super Aguri 31 Jan 2007
Super Aguris newest signing, Giedo van der Garde, got his first taste of Formula One power on Wednesday, during the Japanese teams test in Spain. Van der Garde, who was appointed reserve and test driver late last year, went out a drying Valencia track during the afternoon session.
The 21 year-old Dutch racer took charge of the SA06 for his debut, while Super Aguri team principal and ex-Formula One driver, Aguri Suzuki, watched from the pits.
Van der Garde began racing at the tender age of nine. After winning the Dutch karting championship twice, he started competing internationally, spending the past three seasons in the F3 Euroseries. He will combine his Super Aguri testing role with a race drive in this years World Series by Renault.
