Renault roadshow wows crowds in Mexico 15 Oct 2007
Renaults Giancarlo Fisichella and test driver Nelson Piquet Jr took to the streets of Mexico City on Sunday for the French team's first ever roadshow in Mexico. The event, which took place on a custom-built temporary circuit running along the citys main avenue of Paseo de la Reforma, attracted over 300,000 spectators.
Fisichella and Piquet took turns at the wheel of an R26 on the 2.8 kilometre course, entertaining the crowds with tricks including doughnuts and burnouts.
Renault and ING worked so hard to make this event happen here in Mexico, said Fisichella, and I think we managed to put on a cool show for the Mexican people today! The atmosphere was just incredible, and it was a great pleasure to take part in this event.
Piquet added: We got a fantastic welcome here in Mexico. We were determined to put on a good show, and I think we managed that! There were so many people lining the track and I hope they all enjoyed the event. I certainly did!
The Mexican event was the final roadshow of the year for Renault and the squad are currently finalising their calendar of events for 2008.
