Practice Two - Vettel and Webber do it again 19 Jun 2009
Red Bulls Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber continued to dominate practice for the British Grand Prix on Friday afternoon, with the German lapping in 1m 19.456s and the Australian 1m 19.597s. However, there was hair on the cake as Webbers RB5 rolled to a halt at Stowe after an hour with suspected mechanical problems.
This was a curious hour and a half, however, since Adrian Sutil pushed his Force ndia up to third place early on with a lap of 1m 20.141s, and stayed there.
Kazuki Nakajima was fourth for Williams with 1m 20.209s, ahead of Renaults Fernando Alonso (1m 20.237s), Brawns Rubens Barrichello (1m 20.244s), McLarens Lewis Hamilton (1m 20.417s), Toyotas Jarno Trulli (1m 20.458s), Williams Nico Rosberg (1m 20.468s), Renaults Nelson Piquet (1m 20.608s), BMW Saubers Robert Kubica (1m 20.622s), McLarens Heikki Kovalainen (1m 20.733s), Toyotas Timo Glock (1m 20.762s), Brawns Jenson Button (1m 20.767s), BMW Saubers Nick Heidfeld (1m 20.932s) and Toro Rossos Sebastien Bourdais (1m 20.945s).
The Ferraris were only 17th and 18th, Felipe Massa leading Kimi Raikkonen with 1m 21.005s to 1m 21.132s. Behind them were Force ndias Giancarlo Fisichella (1m 21.413s) and Toro Rossos Sebastien Buemi (1m 21.668s).
Given the position of several star drivers it is likely that many teams focused on race work, and the true picture will begin to emerge on Saturday morning.
