Glock: Ill be fighting fit for Silverstone 28 Jun 2012
Marussias Timo Glock is confident he will be well enough to race at next weekends 2012 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix. Glock was forced to sit out the last round in Valencia after being struck down with an intestinal infection, but is now on the mend.
"Generally I am feeling much better, said the German in a statement on the teams official website. I still feel a little weak in the legs, but otherwise I am okay. It was obviously very disappointing that I was forced to miss the race in Valencia, but that is the way it goes sometimes. You cannot just ignore the symptoms I was experiencing.
Despite his stomach bug, Glock managed to complete 44 laps during Friday's and Saturday's practice sessions in Valencia, but was advised by doctors in the Spanish city to miss qualifying and the race. After recuperating at home, Glock is hoping he will be able to start training again this week.
I am now on my way to a full recovery, although it will be a few more days before I am allowed to train again, he said. I am now looking forward to the forthcoming weeks. Included on the programme is my home race with my Marussia F1 Team, which means it will be a busy and demanding period with lots of events and activities. However, by then I should be totally fit again."
The 2012 Formula 1 Santander British Grand Prix takes place at Silverstone on July 6-8.
