Mark Webber is set to take a five-place grid penalty for Sunday’s Hockenheim race after Red Bull decided to change the gearbox on his car ahead of Saturday’s final practice session.

The team investigated a transmission issue overnight before opting to replace the box. Lotus’s Romain Grosjean and Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg already have identical penalties for this weekend’s German event.

Current regulations require gearboxes to last five Grand Prix weekends.
