Sebastian Vettel remained the pre-race favourite as he set the fastest time in Saturday's final practice session for the 2013 Formula 1 Singtel Singapore Grand Prix as the sun set on Marina Bay. As quick as team mate Mark Webber on the medium tyres, Vettel was able to work clear of all but Lotus's Romain Grosjean when everyone switched to Pirelli's supersofts. The result was a lap of 1m 44.173s - the fastest of the weekend thus far - with Grosjean 0.191s adrift on 1m 44.364s.

Nico Rosberg was next, a full half second off the Red Bull's pace, with the quicker of the two Mercedes. He lapped in 1m 44.741s to head Webber on 1m 44.906s and team mate Lewis Hamilton on 1m 44.921s. Nobody else cracked 1m 45s. The silver arrows had been much closer to Red Bull's pace on the medium tyres, but the gap opened on the supersofts.

Ferrari's Fernando Alonso looked good early in his lap but the result was a disappointing sixth fastest on 1m 45.257s, leaving him ahead of the McLarens of Sergio Perez and Jenson Button which sandwiched Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber; their respective laps were 1m 45.500s, 1m 45.876s and 1m 45.890s. Felipe Massa was on their tail with 1m 45.935s in the second Ferrari.

Kimi Raikkonen was somewhat detuned in the second Lotus and finished 12th behind Toro Rosso's Jean-Eric Vergne. The Frenchman posted 1m 46.084s, the Finn 1m 46.147s. Behind them came Pastor Maldonado on 1m 46.338s for Williams, Daniel Ricciardo on 1m 46.358s for Toro Rosso, and Maldonado's partner Valtteri Bottas on 1m 46.660s. Paul di Resta managed 1m 46.879s for Force India, as Esteban Gutierrez completed the runners in the 1m 46s with 1m 46.893s for Sauber. Adrian Sutil's 1m 47.249s left him 18th for Force India.

Giedo van der Garde was again Caterham's faster runner just ahead of team mate Charles Pic, 1m 48.931s to 1m 49.037s, as Jules Bianchi moved ahead of Marussia team mate Max Chilton with 1m 49.182s to 1m 49.982s.

There were no major incidents, and while some such as the Force India drivers focused on race running on the medium tyre, many will fear that qualifying could still be a Red Bull benefit with Lotus as their closest challengers.
