It's not only Brawn's diffuser that is giving them speed, but a variety of clever solutions like this under-slung rear brake calliper. By mounting the calliper at the base (rather than the side) of the brake disc, Brawn have improved the overall packaging of the suspension, and lowered the centre of gravity of the upright assembly. Small fins on the inner side of the brake duct help produce downforce.
