RACE DEBRIEF

AlphaTauri have become the latest team to announce the reveal date of their 2021 Formula 1 challenger, the AT02, with the covers set to come off on Friday, February 19.

The Italian team, who scored a sensational victory with Pierre Gasly in Monza last year, are looking to build on a seventh place finish in the constructors’ championship last year.

AlphaTauri will give Red Bull and Honda-backed driver Yuki Tsunoda his F1 debut in 2021, the Japanese driver having tested a 2019-car at Imola and Misano in recent weeks as part of his preparations.

He’ll line-up alongside Gasly, who tested positive for Covid-19 last month, with the Frenchman set to contest his fifth Formula 1 campaign.

AlphaTauri are the fourth team to announce their plans, and as it stands will be the second to unveil their new package, four days after McLaren hold a digital launch from their factory in Woking.

Alfa Romeo are holding their launch in Poland on February 22 with world champions Mercedes revealing the W12 on March 2.
