F3: Doohan cements title credentials with second win of weekend in Race 3 at Spa
Red Bull junior Jack Doohan put on a defiant defensive display in a wet Formula 3 Race 3 at Spa, holding off Victor Martins and Alex Smolyar to become the first Formula 3 driver to win twice in a single round with his third victory of the season.
The battle between Doohan and Martins continued to bubble away after the chequered flag. The Frenchman passed the Trident driver off-track and was ordered to hand back the position, although Martins argued that he’d been forced wide. The duo discussed the move in Parc Ferme after the race, but exited with a smile.

After retaking the lead, Doohan didn’t make the same mistake twice and held off Martins for the remainder of the race, clinching a vital victory for his title bid. The Australian is now just 25 points off Championship leader Dennis Hauger, who had entered the weekend with a 63-point advantage.
Having qualified in 14th, Hauger’s goal was damage limitation, and the PREMA driver made up six places to eighth, only slowed down by some dogged defending from Doohan’s Trident team mate, David Schumacher, who ended up in ninth ahead of Arthur Leclerc.
