F3: Fornaroli takes first F3 pole for Trident at Silverstone

Leonardo Fornaroli looked in fine form around Silverstone, earning his first-ever Formula 3 pole position. The Trident driver worked his way up the order as the session went on, setting a 1m 45.520s to take the top spot for the Feature Race on Sunday on his final lap.
The Italian found time where others struggled to improve late on, initially going half a second quicker than anybody else until Trident team mate Oliver Goethe was able to close the gap on his last effort. The German was 0.126s down on Fornaroli, but quick enough to ensure it was an all-Trident front row.

Josep Maria Marti ended third for Campos Racing and he also was joined by a team mate alongside him. Christian Mansell was able to secure his best qualifying result of his rookie campaign so far, finishing up fourth for the Spanish outfit.
Championship leader Gabriel Bortoleto made it three Tridents in the top five, finishing up fifth having led the way earlier in the session. Mercedes Junior Team driver Paul Aron led the way for PREMA Racing, finishing sixth alongside Alpine junior, Hitech Pulse-Eight’s Gabriele Mini.
Cheered on by the British fans in attendance, Luke Browning was just behind his team mate in eighth. Fellow Williams Academy driver Franco Colapinto was ninth for MP Motorsport. Taylor Barnard secured a top 10 start at his home event ahead of Jonny Edgar.
Sebastian Montoya will go from reverse grid pole in the Sprint Race for Hitech Pulse-Eight.
