Doohan didn’t get a good start either, briefly dropping to fifth behind Clement Novalak. But the Trident driver composed himself and surged through the field. Possessing unrivalled pace and grip on the slippery Paul Ricard surface, Doohan hunted down Hauger and dispatched of the PREMA driver with relative ease.
Despite losing the win, Hauger retains his place at the top of the drivers’ championship, extending his lead to six points over Martins, with Doohan now in third.
