FP2 HIGHLIGHTS: Watch the key moments as Raikkonen crashes and Verstappen goes quickest
Red Bull looked to be the form team at pre-season testing, and carried that speed into the first day of the Bahrain Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen topping the time sheets in both Friday practice sessions.
The Dutchman registered the quickest time of all at testing two weeks ago in the RB16B, and did likewise in both FP1 and FP2 as the first race weekend of the season got under way at the Bahrain International Circuit.
It capped a great day for Red Bull, while Mercedes did not look their usual, all-conquering selves, with Lewis Hamilton the quicker of the two Silver Arrows drivers, slotting in at third fastest in second practice, behind Verstappen and the impressive Lando Norris in the McLaren.
FP2 also saw a driver in the barriers for the first time this year, after Kimi Raikkonen lost control of his Alfa Romeo coming out of Turn 2 then spun across the gravel before tagging the tyre wall and ripping off his front wing.
