GOOD LAP vs GREAT LAP: Ride onboard with Pierre Gasly to see how to nail a lap of Imola
First used for racing in 1953, Imola remains one of the sternest challenges for Formula 1 drivers anywhere in the world, its combination of high speeds, narrow width, daunting corners and lurking gravel traps requiring them to be at their very best.
So what makes the difference between a good lap of Imola and a great one? AlphaTauri’s Pierre Gasly was one of the stars of last year’s qualifying session at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, as he put his AT01 in a career-best P4 on the grid.
