Valtteri Bottas topped the time sheets for all three practice sessions ahead of the Portuguese Grand Prix, but when it came to the crunch in qualifying, Lewis Hamilton snatched pole position away from the Finn with his very last run of the day.

    The reigning World Champion had not been able to match his team mate all weekend, and Bottas had set the early pace in Q3 as well only to see Hamilton pip him to pole at the very end of the session, by just 0.102s.

    It's Hamilton's 97th pole position, and gives him the best possible chance to take the all time Formula 1 wins record with his 92nd victory on Sunday afternoon at the Portimao circuit.
