HIGHLIGHTS: Watch all the action from the opening practice session of the Turkish Grand Prix
The Turkish Grand Prix weekend kicked off on Friday morning with the first practice session, and the drivers found a very slippery track surface when they headed out on to the circuit for the first time.
With fresh asphalt laid recently, the track was extremely low in grip and drivers up and down the grid sufffered spins, even as they tried to tip-toe around at reduced speed.
FP1 REPORT: Verstappen quickest as drivers struggle with slippery track in first practice in Turkey
Max Verstappen ended up quickest, just ahead of his Red Bull team mate Alex Albon, while Charles Leclerc was third fastest, in an improved showing for Ferrari.
Mercedes pair Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton were down in ninth and 15th respectively, with Hamilton spending much of the session tweaking his set up.
