Max Verstappen led the standings in FP1 for the 2022 Austrian Grand Prix before an all-important qualifying session in the afternoon. Watch the best action from opening practice here.
Verstappen led Leclerc by 0.255s in the first practice session at the Red Bull Ring, the Red Bull driver then turning his attention to long runs with Saturday's Sprint and Sunday's Grand Prix in mind.

Both Mercedes drivers finished in the top five, with George Russell third and Lewis Hamilton fifth – between them the Red Bull of Sergio Perez.
The session was punctuated by a pair of red flags, the first for Lando Norris's smokey on-track stoppage and the second to recover some debris.
