Max Verstappen got his Saturday running at Le Castellet off to a fine start, with the Red Bull driver leading the way in the third practice session at Circuit Paul Ricard ahead of qualifying.
Verstappen left it late on the soft tyres to set a lap of 1m 32.272s, leading second-placed Carlos Sainz by 0.354s. Charles Leclerc set the third-fastest time of the session but was 0.637s behind Verstappen, with the Mercedes of Lewis Hamilton 0.983s off the Red Bull driver in fourth.
Sergio Perez was over a second behind his team mate in fifth, ahead of George Russell in sixth, while Fernando Alonso jumped to seventh late on. Williams enjoyed a productive session with their upgraded cars, Alex Albon taking eighth and his team mate Nicholas Latifi 12th – between them both McLarens and AlphaTauri's Yuki Tsunoda.

There were no red flags in the session, but we did see several drivers continue to run wide, with Leclerc even spinning at Turn 11. Sebastian Vettel was the only driver not to get a soft tyre run as he was confined to the garage for last part of practice after sustaining damage to his floor.
