It was a Ferrari one-two in the second practice session at Marina Bay as Carlos Sainz led the way ahead of team mate Charles Leclerc in a positive evening for the Scuderia.
On his qualifying simulation lap, Sainz set a time of 1m 42.587s to lead Leclerc by 0.208s, with George Russell third quickest. The Mercedes driver was 0.324s off Sainz – although Russell did encounter traffic on his first flying lap.
After spending much of the session in the pit lane, Max Verstappen put in a late lap to go up to fourth, ahead of Lewis Hamilton in fifth. Like his team mate, Hamilton was hampered by traffic on his first flying lap.

It was a messy session for AlphaTauri as Pierre Gasly, in 14th, had to jump out of his car after the AT03 caught fire in the pit lane, although he was able to continue. However, team mate Yuki Tsunoda, down in 17th, was confined to the pit lane for most of the session with a fuel system problem.
