Max Verstappen returned to familiar territory as he topped the timesheets during final practice at the Canadian Grand Prix. The weather dominated the session as drivers were forced to navigate the wet conditions on track, with Carlos Sainz crashing out at Turn 1 to temporarily halt proceedings.
With much of Friday’s running in the dry, bar the final part of FP2, it was a different story on Saturday as drivers began the session on full wet tyres, before intermediates started to appear after around 10 minutes. The likes of Yuki Tsunoda had a close call on two occasions thanks to spins on the track as drivers battled with the conditions.

But it was Sainz whose luck ran out as he crashed heavily after losing the rear before spinning into the barrier at Turn 1, leaving his mechanics with a big job ahead of qualifying later today.
The Ferrari man also has a trip to the stewards after the session, as they noted a potential incident of impeding on Alex Albon.
