MUST-SEE: Hamilton taps the wall in unusual incident with Magnussen during Miami qualifying

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton had a scare during the first phase of qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix when he narrowly avoided slow-moving Haas rival Kevin Magnussen and glanced the wall.

Hamilton approached Magnussen along the lengthy back straight midway through the Q1 phase and, as he closed further under braking, the seven-time champion was forced to take evasive action.

Rather than running into the back of Magnussen’s car, Hamilton darted to the right and made light contact with the concrete wall on the outside of Turn 17 – following which he pitted for front wing checks.

Magnussen and Hamilton both made it through to Q2 by placing P5 and P6 respectively, with stewards set to investigate the incident between the pair after the session. But Hamilton would go on to have more woe in Q2 as he failed to make it into Q3, placing 13th on the grid.
