RACE HIGHLIGHTS: All the action from the first Dutch GP in 36 years as Verstappen wins his home race
The crowd brought a carnival atmosphere to the first Dutch Grand Prix for 36 years, and just as they delivered in the grandstands, so their hero Max Verstappen delivered on track.
The Red Bull racer nailed pole position on Saturday and followed up with a brilliant victory on Sunday to send the fans into raptures.
Mercedes, with Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas starting second and third respectively, tried to box in Red Bull by splitting the strategies of their two drivers, but Verstappen was simply too quick and romped home to a win that not only delighted the crowd, but also put him back into the lead of the world championship.
