While the race itself is of course the main event of a Grand Prix meeting, there's always plenty of action that unfolds across the rest of the weekend too, with qualifying serving up team mate dramas, strategic spins, traffic chaos and more over the years…

From a McLaren meltdown in Hungary in 2007, when tensions between team mates Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton boiled over, to Red Bull’s ‘wing-gate’ controversy at Silverstone in 2010, where the team took a new front wing off Mark Webber’s car and put it on Sebastian Vettel’s, our top 10 list is full of eyebrow-raising moments.

A suspicious spin from Michael Schumacher at Silverstone in 2004 and an out-lap battle between the Ferrari driver and Renault rival Fernando Alonso at Magny-Cours in 2006 also make the cut, along with 2019 traffic chaos at Monza, when none of the drivers wanted to lead the train and go without a beneficial tow down the straights…

Not forgetting two unusual incidents on the streets of Monaco, where Schumacher’s stoppage at Rascasse in 2006 denied Alonso a shot at pole, and Nico Rosberg’s off eight years later scuppered team mate Hamilton’s efforts in similar fashion.
