WATCH: Fire forces Gasly to jump out of his AlphaTauri in FP2
Pierre Gasly's FP2 session in Singapore came to a bizarre halt when his roll-hoop went up in flames just as the Frenchman's AlphaTauri was being rolled into the garage...
All seemed well when Gasly entered the pits to end his run in the middle of FP2, and then a look of concern spread to the AlphaTauri crew as flames shot out of the top of their driver's car.
Gasly quickly hopped out and was thankfully uninjured, though it was unclear as to why his car was spitting flames – which were extinguished with the help of an Aston Martin mechanic.

After the session, Gasly quipped: "It’s all part of the practice! Checking how strong the engine is in these hot conditions.
"It wasn’t ideal, it got slightly hot, and when we connected the fuel breather it caught fire, but we could switch it off and restart again. So, just a bit of a barbecue feeling, but it was nothing too bad in the end.
"It’s just a procedure, and in these conditions it’s so warm – it’s nothing worrying or concerning for the rest of the weekend."
Gasly re-emerged to complete FP2 in Singapore, but team mate Yuki Tsunoda's session was cut short by a fuel system issue. Watch the incident involving Gasly in the video player above.
