WATCH: Relive the key moments from last year's controversial British Grand Prix
In one of the most emotionally-charged moments of the 2021 season, Lewis Hamilton sealed his eighth victory at the British Grand Prix. But his win was not without controversy, coming as it did after his first-lap collision with then title rival Max Verstappen.
Verstappen and Hamilton started on the front row together, and after battling for all of the first half of Lap 1, they collided going through Corpse, sending the Red Bull driver off into the barrier – and causing the race to be red flagged.
Starting in P1 at the restart, Charles Leclerc then led for much of the race, before Hamilton – after being given a 10-second penalty for his part in the incident with Verstappen – made his way through the field and overtook the Ferrari driver in the closing stages of the Grand Prix to win.

At the time, Hamilton reduced Verstappen’s championship lead to just eight points, after starting the race 33 behind. Leclerc finished second, ahead of Valtteri Bottas in third, with another Briton, Lando Norris, in fourth.
