Marta Garcia became the maiden F1 Academy champion this weekend as she converted pole position in Austin into a seventh victory of the season after a thrilling race-long battle with Abbi Pulling.

Pulling matched the Spaniard stride for stride through the entire race, and even looked to make a move on the final lap, but Garcia held her own and led every lap to cross the line as the winner of Race 1. In doing so she became the inaugural F1 Academy champion.
