Carlos Sainz set the fastest lap of Friday practice on his way to the top of the leaderboard in second practice for the British Grand Prix.

The Ferrari driver stuck in a lap of 1m 28.942s on Friday afternoon at Silverstone, Sainz joined by Lewis Hamilton and Lando Norris in the top three on a day that started off rainy and ended dry – with the clouds still looming, however.

Meanwhile, Charles Leclerc finished fifth behind rival Max Verstappen, the Red Bull driver having said he had a "tricky" start to proceedings.
