RACE DEBRIEF

    Charles Leclerc qualified in pole position in Baku for the second year in a row, after the Monegasque racer produced a phenomenal final lap to beat title rivals Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen to pole.

    Leclerc set a time of 1m 41.359s on his final lap around the long Baku City Circuit to lead the Red Bull pairing of Perez and Verstappen by 0.282s and 0.347s respectively. Carlos Sainz, in the other Ferrari, finished in fourth, 0.455s behind his team mate's time.
