Lewis Hamilton may have gone fastest of all in qualifying for the Turkish Grand Prix – but he didn’t take pole position, with the Briton set to start from P11 after taking on a new internal combustion engine for this weekend.

Despite that, Hamilton knew he had to give it his all in qualifying to limit the damage his 10-place grid drop would do – and boy did he deliver, posting a 1m 22.868s, and claiming a track record for Istanbul Park in the process.
