The latest episode of Aramco presents: Rise of the Rookie explores Sergio Perez's journey from Mexico to the junior formulas and beyond, all the way up to his recruitment by Red Bull to partner Max Verstappen for 2021.

A karting ace at the age of six, Mexican driver Perez finished runner-up to ex-Williams driver Pastor Maldonado in the 2010 GP2 Series, and his star quickly ascended.

A sensational debut for Sauber was the beginning of a Formula 1 career that yielded some epic drives, including a 2012 Malaysian Grand Prix battle with Fernando Alonso – and clashes with the likes of Kimi Raikkonen too...

Perez's time with McLaren didn't pay off as much as he'd hoped, and there was friction with Esteban Ocon at Force India, but Perez eventually got his winner's trophy, shrugging off his fair share of trials and tribulations to win the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix with Racing Point before being signed for Red Bull for 2021.
