Formula 1 returns to Suzuka for this weekend’s Japanese Grand Prix, with Max Verstappen on the verge of sealing a second consecutive world drivers’ championship.

Verstappen - who has a 104-point lead over Charles Leclerc in the standings – can seal the championship with a win and the fastest lap in Suzuka, but his Red Bull team mate Sergio Perez – fresh from his victory in Singapore – will also be in contention for the win this weekend.

POINTS PERMUTATIONS: What Verstappen needs to do to win his second drivers’ crown in Japan

The last time we visited Japan back in 2019, Valtteri Bottas – then driving for Mercedes – sealed victory at Suzuka ahead the Ferrari of Sebastian Vettel, and Lewis Hamilton.

This year’s action gets under way with FP1 and FP2 on Friday, with second practice extended to 90 minutes instead of the usual hour to allow for some extra testing of new Pirelli tyres.

On Saturday we'll have FP3 and qualifying, before the Grand Prix itself on Sunday.
