More bad news at Williams. First they cancelled their shakedown. Then they announced they would miss the opening day of pre-season testing. Now Williams have confirmed they will also be absent for day two in Barcelona - and won't run until Wednesday at the earliest…
Last season was one of the bleakest in Williams' history with the team making changes to the technical department, led by Paddy Lowe, and pushing hard to cure the problems that afflicted them.
For the first time in their history, Williams failed to send the car out on the opening day of pre-season testing, with the team saying they needed more time to be ready to run the brand-new FW42.
Then on Monday, they revealed that Wednesday – day three of just eight permitted days of pre-season testing – would be the earliest that their 2019 car would hit the track.
Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams said in a statement: “It is looking more likely than not that we will now not be in a position to run on track until Wednesday at the earliest.
“This is obviously extremely disappointing, but it is unfortunately the situation we are in. We will be getting the FW42 on track as soon as we are able.”
All nine of the remaining teams on the grid hit the track on Monday. You can follow all the action live on F1 TV and Formula1.com.
