Alonso loses Miami GP points finish after receiving 5s penalty – promoting Stroll to P10
Fernando Alonso has been demoted from P9 to P11 in Miami after leaving the track and gaining a lasting advantage at Turn 14 late in the race.
The Alpine driver was handed a five-second penalty for colliding with Pierre Gasly in the Miami Grand Prix, that penalty dropping him from P8 to P9 at the flag.

But after the race, the stewards then investigated Alonso for leaving the track and gaining a lasting advantage on the penultimate tour, for which he was given a further five-second time penalty and one penalty point – dropping him from P9 to P11 and promoting Lance Stroll into P10, giving the Aston Martin driver a point.
The penalty also means that Williams' Alex Albon moves from P10 to P9, giving him an extra point from the Miami GP.
Alonso remains 16th in the standings on two points after the Miami GP.
