Aston Martin reserve driver Drugovich set for end-of-season Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi

Aston Martin have announced that reserve driver Felipe Drugovich will be completing testing duties for the team at the end-of-season Young Driver Test in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday.
Following his 2022 Formula 2 championship triumph, Drugovich became the first member of Aston Martin’s Driver Development Programme when he signed for the team in September of last year.
He has since had plenty of experience behind F1 machinery having taken part in FP1 sessions for the team at the 2022 Abu Dhabi GP and at Monza earlier this season – and he is taking part in the opening practice session in Abu Dhabi this weekend.
The Brazilian racer also drove at the Young Driver’s Test in Abu Dhabi last season before deputising for an injured Lance Stroll at the pre-season outing in Bahrain earlier this year, getting his first taste of Aston Martin’s 2023 challenger.
The Silverstone based squad are set to field two cars with Stroll and Fernando Alonso set to share driving duties on the other side of the garage as they complete the tyre test. Stroll will drive on Tuesday morning while Alonso will take over in the afternoon.
Drugovich’s stint with Aston Martin is set to continue into 2024 after it was announced that he will continue to serve as their reserve driver next season.
