Michael Schumacher would go on to win seven races in Montreal, but for this classic slice of onboard action we ride on the great German's shoulder during his first race in Canada back in 1992, an event where he would go on to score the first of a record 12 podiums at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve…
We join Schumacher on the 51st lap, by which stage he had worked his way up to second place, seven seconds adrift of Gerhard Berger’s lead McLaren. That represented a three-place swing for the Benetton driver who had started fifth, but then benefitted when Nigel Mansell spun out of contention and Ayrton Senna, Riccardo Patrese and Martin Brundle all retired when in front of him. Watch as Schumacher puts a lap on Michele Alboreto’s Footwork, shortly after negotiating the fantastic high-speed sweeps that used to precede Montreal’s final corner.
