CUTTING THROUGH THE CARNAGE: Onboard with Hartley for a crazy first lap in Austin
First laps often throw up drama, but Sunday’s United States Grand Prix arguably had more than its fair share. One man who witnessed it all was Toro Rosso’s Brendon Hartley, the final starter on the Austin grid.
A cool head and some composed driving saw the New Zealander calmly avoid several heart-stopping incidents ahead, not least Romain Grosjean’s tangle with Charles Leclerc, and Lance Stroll’s heavy collision with Fernando Alonso.
