EXCLUSIVE: Lawson on his impressive first half of 2026 and future goals

Looking back 12 months to the midway point of the 2025 season, Liam Lawson had already faced a few twists and turns after returning to Racing Bulls following a tricky opening two rounds with the Red Bull team.
Fast-forward to the same stage of the current campaign and the picture looks very different. Lawson has emerged as one of the standout drivers of the first half, with the Racing Bulls squad performing at a consistently high level that has seen them climb to the head of the midfield – and threatening to close in on the top four teams.
Just before the Hungarian Grand Prix – and the start of the sport’s summer break – F1.com sat down with Lawson to reflect on the factors behind his strong run so far in 2026, what it has been like to work with rookie team mate Arvid Lindblad, and the targets for himself and the team entering into the second half of the season…
