F2: Duerksen wins Monza Sprint Race from seventh

Joshua Duerksen claimed his third Sprint Race victory of the 2026 FIA Formula 2 season, fighting through the pack in impressive fashion to take the win.

The Invicta Racing driver started seventh on the grid, but was up to fourth place almost immediately by the time the pack reached Turn 4 on the opening lap.

From there, the Paraguayan driver picked off his rivals to climb the podium rankings, before a mid-race Safety Car wiped out reverse grid polesitter John Bennett’s lead.

At the restart, Duerksen stuck with the TRIDENT driver and eventually claimed the lead of the race with a straightforward DRS pass.

There was one more task to overcome however with a late Safety Car restart just a handful of laps remaining. Duerksen got a great restart and handled things from there, allowing the Mercedes Development Driver to take his third win of the campaign.

Bennett was second in the end, sticking with but unable to re-pass the winner in the closing laps, while MP Motorsport’s Oliver Goethe completed the podium in P3.

In the title fight, Nikola Tsolov earned points in fifth position, with Alexander Dunne keeping his hopes alive in seventh.

Second and third in the championship, Gabriele Mini and Rafael Camara, failed to score, with the former ending up P10, while Camara was a mid-race retirement after contact left him facing backwards and out of the race.
