F2: Martins back on top with victory in Barcelona Sprint Race
Victor Martins was back on the top step of a Formula 2 podium for the first time in 2024, winning the Barcelona Sprint Race for ART Grand Prix.
The Alpine Academy driver started from second, but pole sitter Kush Maini suffered a slow getaway, allowing Martins to take over the lead of the race on the run into the first corner. From that point, he went untroubled to the chequered flag, eventually finishing 4.4s clear of Maini in second.

The Invicta Racing driver had to fight back from his poor launch having dropped down to as low as fifth position on the opening lap. Maini fought back by team mate Gabriel Bortoleto and DAMS Lucas Oil’s Juan Manuel Correa to run third on the road where he’d finish.
He was promoted to second courtesy of track limits violations for Ritomo Miyata, who finished second on the road for Rodin Motorsport but eventually ended up seventh in the final standings with the application of two time penalties.
Correa had taken third place as a result of the Japanese driver’s sanction, but was assigned a five-second penalty himself after the race, dropping him off the podium and down to eighth.
The DAMS Lucas Oil driver’s penalty promoted Championship leader Paul Aron up to third for his sixth podium result of the year.

Jak Crawford ensured DAMS had two cars in the points with fourth ahead of Aron’s title rival Isack Hadjar, who finished sixth in the end ahead of Miyata and Correa.
